WASHINGTON (AFNS) --
As a result of the government shutdown, the Department of Defense has indefinitely suspended the Combined Federal Campaign.
The campaign was slated to start its official solicitation period Sept. 1 and run through Dec. 15.
According to a memorandum released Oct. 9, CFC campaign activities are not excepted from furlough, nor are they appropriate activities under the Pay Our Military Act. The suspension will remain in place until there is a continuing resolution or a congressionally approved appropriation. This suspension includes all CFC events, training and fund raising.
Though the CFC campaign is being suspended, members still have an option to contribute through myPay.
“Members can still go online to www.cfcnca.org
and find the organization they want to donate to,” said Tamera Jordan, the campaign manager for Air Force pentagon personnel.
As the suspension continues, leadership remains ready to return to normal CFC operations once legally allowed.
“We look forward to a quick return and the resumption of a vigorous campaign to help those people who rely upon local, national and international charities,” said Susan Yarwood, the DOD's Human Resources director.
The CFC, according to its website, is the world’s largest annual workplace charity campaign.
