CATHLYNN B. NOVEL

Cathlynn B. Novel, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is Deputy Auditor General and Director of Operations, Air Force Audit Agency, Washington, D.C. Ms. Novel is responsible for assuring all audits meet established standards; conducting the operational reviews of internal operations; ensuring the quality of all agency products; developing and defending resource requirements; and training and maintaining a professional workforce. In addition, she oversees the planning and execution of all aspects of internal auditing activity including procurement, weapon system acquisition, wholesale and retail supply, and maintenance.

Ms. Novel entered government service with the Air Force in 1975 as a management intern in the comptroller career field. She has held many senior positions in the Headquarters U.S. Air Force and also has broad experience in the Office of the Secretary of Defense and Air Force field activities. Ms. Novel is a recognized authority of acquisition, operations, maintenance and business operating fund programs. She has managed budget programs totaling more than $30 billion annually for Air Force aircraft, missiles, munitions, communications and vehicles. Prior to her current assignment, she was the Deputy Auditor General for Operations, Acquisition and Logistics Audits, Air Force Audit Agency. Ms. Novel was selected for the Senior Executive Service in 1989.
