More than 500 selected for chief

The Air Force 2003 chief master sergeant promotion board has selected 526 senior master sergeants for promotion to the service's highest enlisted rank.

The promotion list will be released the first duty hour Nov. 5. For units across the international date line, the list will be released Nov. 6. The complete list of selectees will be posted to the Air Force Personnel Center's Web page Nov. 6.

"The Air Force has once again chosen a group of senior master sergeants who have proven they have what it takes," said Chief Master Sgt. Mark Billingsley, chief of the enlisted promotion and military testing branch at the center here. "Their hard work, years of experience, dedication to development through military and civilian education, and test preparation, have set them apart as a select group ready to lead as chief master sergeants."

The board, considered 2,649 senior master sergeants and selected 19.86 percent -- 6.86 percent above the minimum promotion rate objective of 13 percent. Last year's selection rate was 19.93 percent. The board convened here Oct. 6 to 17.

The average score for those selected was 664.14, with an average time in grade and time in service of 3.48 and 22.24 years respectively. The average score was based on the following point averages:

-- 135 for Enlisted Performance Reports.

-- 27.89 for time in grade.

-- 23.11 for time in service.

-- 23.79 for decorations.

-- 67.93 for the Air Force supervisory examination.

-- 386.44 for the promotion board score.
