AF announces major selections

More than 2,200 Air Force officers were selected for major by the 2003A promotion board, officials announced July 22. The board was held at the Air Force Personnel Center here May 5.

Board officials considered 3,036 captains for promotion in the line, judge advocate general, chaplain, medical service corps, biomedical sciences corps and nurse corps fields. They selected 2,215 people for advancement.

The entire list will be posted on the Air Force Personnel Center Web site, www.afpc.randolph.af.mil, July 25 after 2 p.m. CDT.

Selection statistics for those in the promotion zone:

-- 1,824 line officers were selected from 1,973 considered for a 92.4 percent select rate.

-- 16 chaplains were selected from 20 considered for an 80 percent select rate.

-- 73 judge advocate general officers were selected from 78 considered for a 93.6 percent select rate.

-- 81 nurse corps officers were selected from 114 considered for a 71.1 percent select rate.

-- 36 medical service corps officers were selected from 39 considered for 92.3 percent select rate.

-- 112 biomedical sciences corps officers were selected from 131 considered for an 85.5 percent select rate.

Selection statistics for those above the promotion zone:

-- 51 line officers were selected from 542 considered for a 9.4 percent select rate.

-- One chaplain was selected from six considered for a 16.7 percent select rate.

-- Two judge advocate general officers were selected from four considered for a 50 percent select rate.

-- 11 nurse corps officers were selected from 98 considered for an 11.2 percent select rate.

-- Two medical service corps officers were selected from 10 considered for a 20 percent select rate.

-- Six biomedical sciences corps officers were selected from 21 considered for a 28.6 percent select rate.
