Brigadier General Roy Newton Casbeer is commander of the 810th Strategic Aerospace Division, an organization of Strategic Air Command with headquarters at Minot Air Force Base, N.D.

General Casbeer was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1922. He graduated in 1942 from the Aviation Cadet Program with a commission as second lieutenant in the Army Air Corps and his pilot wings.

During World War II from October 1943 to October 1945, he served with the Ninth Air Force in England, France and Germany. His assignments included pilot, squadron commander and group operations officer.

Subsequent to World War II, he held various assignments in the Air Materiel Command in the United States and Saudi Arabia.

From 1953 to 1961 General Casbeer performed various duties in the Strategic Air Command, including bombardment squadron commander; air division director of operations; deputy inspector general; and deputy chief, Training Division, Headquarters Strategic Air Command.

He was assigned to the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff as a member of the Strategic Nuclear Branch, Special Studies Group, from September 1962 to July 1965. In August 1965 he became deputy director for strategic offensive and defensive studies and analysis, deputy chief of staff, plans and operations, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, and through reorganization in February 1967, became director for strategic offensive and defensive studies, assistant chief of staff, studies and analysis, Headquarters U.S. Air Force.

From July 1967 to July 1969 he was chief of the Air Force Section, Military Assistance Advisory Group, Iran.

In August 1969 he was assigned as commander, 810th Strategic Aerospace Division with headquarters at Minot Air Force Base, N.D.

A command pilot, his military decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal and Air Medal.
