Major General MARK A. ATKINSON

Maj. Gen. Mark A. Atkinson is the Director of Logistics, Headquarters Air Combat Command, Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. He is responsible for policy, budget, and strategy supporting maintenance, munitions, supply chain, transportation, industrial facilities, training, manufacturing and repair activities. He provides direction to more than 42,000 personnel at 30 locations worldwide supporting more than 2,000 aircraft and 4,000 vehicles.  He leads a direct staff of 513 people in eight divisions and develops and executes an annual budget of $5.5 billion. 

General Atkinson entered the Air Force in 1982 as a graduate of Ohio University’s ROTC program.  He has commanded two squadrons, a maintenance group and an air logistics center maintenance wing.  He has held staff assignments in Strategic Air Command, Air Education and Training Command, U.S. Air Forces in Europe, Air Force Materiel Command, Air Force Personnel Center, Air Combat Command, and the Pentagon. 

Prior to his current assignment, he was the Director of Logistics, Installations, and Mission Support, Headquarters U.S. Air Forces in Europe, Ramstein Air Base Germany.
