Brigadier General LYMAN L. EDWARDS JR.

Brig. Gen. Lyman L. "Lewie" Edwards, Jr., is Mobilization Assistant to the Director, Strategic Plans and Analyses, Headquarters, Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Responsibilities include assisting the Director with command-wide strategic planning, programming, analyses and wargaming. Additional responsibilities include the Program Objective Memorandum process for the AFMC Agile Combat Support, Air Force Core Function and the Weapon Systems Sustainment components worth more than $40 billion.

General Edwards graduated from North Carolina State University and obtained his commission through AFROTC. His first assignment was to the Aircraft Maintenance Officers Course, Chanute AFB, Ill., where he was a Distinguished Graduate.

The general entered the Air Force Reserve in July 1995. In this capacity, he has held various engineering and maintenance officer positions in the C-141, F-15, and C-5 System Program Offices, and the Directorate of Logistics, Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command. General Edwards served a one-year deployment as the Senior Acquisition Adviser to the Iraqi Air Force and Chief of Staff for the Directorate of Defense Affairs, Multi-National Security Transition Command-Iraq in 2007-2008. He was then selected to serve at U.S. Central Command Headquarters in the Strategy, Plans and Policy Directorate, providing executive-level liaison with the Office of Secretary of Defense, all military services and the Department of State to execute oversight for security cooperation activities and foreign military sales throughout the Central Command area of operations.

Prior to his current position, he was the Deputy Director of Strategy, Plans and Policy at U.S. Central Command and the Director of the Foreign Military Sales Task Force.
