Stephen Herrera, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is the Deputy Director of Staff, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia. He assists the Director of Staff in providing advice and assistance to the Secretary, Chief of Staff, Under Secretary and Vice Chief of Staff on numerous aspects of Air Force policies, plans and programs. As Deputy Director of Staff, he maintains a continuing extensive interface with other elements throughout the Air Force, the White House, Department of Defense, National Security Council and State Department. He coordinates, integrates and synchronizes the efforts of the entire headquarters staff, and plans, coordinates and executes programs, policies and procedures for unique and politically sensitive projects.

Prior to this assignment, he was the Executive Director for Headquarters Air Force Special Operations Command. Mr. Herrera has previously served as the Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary for Financial Operations, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force, Financial Management and Comptroller, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C.
