AF training instructor responds to traffic accident Published Oct. 13, 2012 JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas (AFNS) -- An Air Force Basic Military Training Instructor was late for his morning formation, but it was for the right kind of reason. During his normal early morning commute Oct. 5, Staff Sgt. Stephen Dove was about to get on the 410 access ramp at Marbach Road in northwest San Antonio when he saw a truck speed away from a fast food restaurant. Spotting a motorcyclist on the ground nearby, he soon realized what he'd just witnessed was the aftermath of a traffic accident. Dove parked his car and got someone to call 911 while he used his Air Force-taught Self Aid and Buddy Care Skills to render aid to the 28-year-old victim. Determining the victim may have sustained a spinal injury, Dove stayed to keep the victim still until help arrived, and provide information to emergency medical responders and police. The victim was transported to a local hospital.
