Red, White and Brave parade honors those who serve

Air Force Academy participants joined forces with many local military members and civilians alike who turned out to salute returning Fort Carson fighting men and women Aug. 29, 2009, in downtown Colorado Springs. 

The Red, White and Brave parade drew an estimated 40,000 spectators lining downtown streets and sporting American flags. Marching in the parade was the base Honor Guard and Cadet Squadron 38, which represented the Academy's Cadet Wing. Varsity cheerleaders and mascot "The Bird" also marched and handed out Falcon T-shirts to spectators. Thirty-four cadet athletes also supported the event by escorting dignitaries.
