Aerial spray team deploys to Louisiana
An Air Force Reserve C-130 Hercules from the 910th Airlift Wing at Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio, like the one shown here, deployed to Barksdale Air Force Base, La., Sept. 17 to perform spray missions over various parts of the state following Hurricane Ike, which ravaged parts of Texas and Louisiana. Crews will target primarily mosquitoes and filth flies, which are capable of transmitting diseases such as Malaria, West Nile virus, and various types of Encephalitis. The C-130 is capable of spraying about 80,000 acres per day. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Jacob N. Bailey)
