CSAF's Scope highlights force structure changes

SAN ANTONIO (AFPN) --  The CSAF's Scope focuses on current topics the Air Force chief of staff feels are of special importance to today's Airmen.

Among Gen. T. Michael Moseley's top issues this month is the Air Force's force structure changes and "The High Ground."

To facilitate effectively success of the future force structure changes, General Moseley looks to the leadership of Air Force commanders.

"I want it to be clear that when we consider moving individual Airmen, the folks I am counting on to ensure decisions reflect the proper balance of Air Force needs, functional mission needs, and individual professional development needs are the group commanders -- the first colonels in the chain-of-command," the general said. "Their involvement will be critical."

In this month's CSAF's Scope, the Air Force's top Airman also addresses the importance of the role of the Air Force space capabilities.

"Our space capabilities give this nation unprecedented asymmetric advantages in precision, communication, and situational awareness," General Moseley said. "There are now 44 nations or consortiums of nations that own or operate satellites. These nations are increasing their technical capability at a rapid pace, and the risks to our dominance of the ultimate 'high ground' are growing."

To maintain space superiority, the Air Force chief of staff is making sure Airmen understand the importance of situational awareness in space.

Other topics on the CSAF's Scope include the associate-to-baccalaureate cooperative program, ancillary training and the Air Force Combat Medal. The general has written a brief explanation of each topic so Airmen can better understand the issues he is working and why they are important to the Air Force's senior leaders.
