Senior air operations official visits Yemen

In an effort to enhance air force-to-air force relations, the commander of U.S. Central Command Air Forces visited Yemeni air force senior officials and the U.S. Ambassador Feb. 7 in Sana'a, Yemen.

During the visit, Lt. Gen. Gary L. North met with Brig. Gen. Mohammed Salih, commander of the Yemeni armed forces' air force and air defense command and discussed military relations between the two air forces.

General North also met with Thomas Krajeski, the U.S. ambassador to Yemen, to discuss progress in the overall war on terrorism.

"I'm pleased to visit with Yemeni military officials and hope to initiate a solid dialogue of cooperation between our air forces," General North said. "I recognize and respect the Yemeni armed forces' ability to provide for the country's own national air defense and thereby further regional stability."
