Airmen here are continuing to investigate the Sept. 14 crash of an F-16 Fighting Falcon near Oberkail.

The newest edition to the base's investigation team is Col. Peter Davidson the 616th Support Group commander at Ramstein Air Base. He is the lead investigator and accident investigation board president.

Col. Davidson arrived at Spangdahlem AB Sept. 22 and will be working with a team of impartial experts from other bases in USAFE to determine the cause of the crash. The team will conduct a comprehensive investigation and publish a publicly-releasable report on the incident.

"People will be interested to know that we're now able to begin a more robust clean-up of the crash site," said Col. Davidson. "We are removing the wreckage, which allows us to work more diligently with local German authorities to remedy the site."

The investigation process is expected to take a few weeks.
