Officials announce airfield operations awards

Air Force officials recently announced the winners of the 2004 Air Force Airfield Operation Awards.

Airfield operations, a flight within the operations support squadron, is responsible for airfield operations and control, specifically airfield management and air traffic control.

The 2004 winners are:

-- Airfield Operations Flight Complex of the Year: 374th OSS at Yokota Air Base, Japan.

-- Terminal Instrument Procedures Specialist of the Year: Staff Sgt. Melissa Rivera from the 374th OSS.

-- D. Ray Hardin Air Traffic Control Facility of the Year: 14th OSS Radar Approach Control at Columbus Air Force Base, Miss.

-- Colonel Derrel L. Dempsey Officer of the Year: Capt. Michael Gregoritsch from the 4th OSS at Seymour Johnson AFB, N.C.

-- Air Traffic Control Enlisted Manager of the Year: Master Sgt. Zefrem Smith from the 7th OSS at Dyess AFB, Texas

-- Air Traffic Control Watch Supervisor of the Year: Tech Sgt. John Marshall from the 305th OSS at McGuire AFB, N.J.

-- Air Traffic Controller of the Year: Staff Sgt. Ryan Edwards from the 97th OSS at Altus AFB, Okla.

-- Air Traffic Controller Training Achievement: Tech. Sgt. Angela Dowling from the 49th OSS at White Sands Missile Range at Holloman AFB, N.M.

-- Air Traffic Controller of the Year (civilian): Samuel Johnson from the 305th OSS.

-- Air Traffic Controller in Charge (civilian): Robert Schuetrum from the 97th OSS.

-- Airfield Management Facility of the Year: 314th OSS at Little Rock AFB, Ark.

-- Airfield Management Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Senior Master Sgt. Robert Popp from the 366th OSS at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho.

-- Airfield Management NCO of the Year: Tech. Sgt. Michelle Spickler from the 325th OSS at Tyndall AFB, Fla.

-- Airfield Management Airman of the Year: Airman 1st Class Nora Losoya from the 3rd OSS at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska.

-- Airfield Management Training Achievement: Tech. Sgt. Genia Duffield from the 22nd OSS at McConnell AFB, Kan.

-- Airfield Management Civilian Supervisor of the Year: Glenn Prince from the 374th OSS.

-- Airfield Management Civilian Journeyman/Technician of the Year: Terry Reiling from the 86th OSS at Ramstein AB, Germany.
