Intel officer development team convenes in May

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas (AFNS) -- The intelligence officer career field summer development team will convene May 29-June 6 to consider eligible officers for calendar year 2015 intelligence director of operations, wing senior intelligence officer and detachment commander positions.

Endorsed nominations are due to the Air Force Personnel Center by May 9, and applicants must be nominated by the first colonel or O-6 equivalent in the Airman's chain of command, said Maj. Jeff Fries, with AFPC intelligence officer assignments.

Nominating authorities may submit as many nominations as they choose, but Fries advised they nominate only those officers who possess the qualities necessary for the responsibilities inherent in the duties.

"Nominees should possess exceptional leadership skills, set the example through unquestioned integrity and professional competence, have the ability to motivate others, demonstrate concern and interest in subordinates, show excellent mentoring skills and possess a drive to take the initiative," Fries said.

Candidates must be core intelligence or cyberspace operations majors or major-selects from the 2001-2004 year groups. In addition, they cannot have met their in-the-promotion-zone board to lieutenant colonel.

All eligible officers must submit a Word document statement of intent indicating whether or not they want to be considered for an O-4 leadership position, Fries said.
