Military teens from around the world will join together in the annual Operation Megaphone Worldwide Lock-In April 25-26.

This year's theme is "Memories from Around the World," which encourages military children to share their stories about their travels.

Operation Megaphone is a Joint Service Teen Council program. The council, composed of youth leaders from Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Navy and Marine Corps child and youth programs, collaborates and discusses common issues affecting military youth with the intent to bring about change.

Operation Megaphone is designed to strengthen participation in military youth programs and build stronger support for military teens transitioning into their new location.

"We encourage youth from all military branches to participate in Operation Megaphone, and to engage other military teens living stateside and in numerous countries around the world," said Chett Kline, an Air Force Personnel Center youth development specialist. "This joint military teen initiative connects our youth and provides them with a forum and opportunities to discuss key issues that affect all military teens. It also promotes communication between members from all military services and it gives our kids a chance to give back to their community."

Last year, more than 3,500 military youth and teens participated at 105 overnight lock-ins located at military youth program facilities. Event highlights included social media Harlem Shake contests, online scavenger hunts and joint events including Air Force, Army and Navy teens.

The Joint Service Teen Council plans to widen its reach this year through incorporation of Coast Guard and Marine Corps youth.
