The Air Force identified 111 lieutenant colonels and lieutenant colonel-selects as candidates for Air Force ROTC detachment command.

Special-duty command opportunities are highly sought, said Sundy Muniz, of the Air Force Personnel Center special duty assignment branch.

"Being selected for ROTC detachment command is a significant achievement for an officer," Muniz said. "ROTC detachment commanders are the first supervisors and mentors most new Air Force officers will follow. The selection criteria for this position are high because these men and women will develop future Air Force leaders."
