Wright "B" Flyers prepare for Centennial
An early Army style hat lays on the lower wing of a Wright "B" Flyer while a Wright "B" Flyer Inc. volunteer checks rudder control of their "Yellow Bird" on Feb 27, 2010. This is one of two Flyers brought from Ohio to San Antonio. The "Yellow Bird" the most authentic reproduction of the two features a wooden frame, Ford Model-A engine and hand carved propellers was assembled at Fort Sam Houston. While the "Brown Bird" metal framed and modern engine modified Flyer was assembled at the Texas Air Museum. While the "Yellow Bird" is scheduled to taxi on Fort Sam Houston's MacArthur Parade Ground, the "Brown Bird" will make two flyovers during the Centennial of Military Aviation on March 2.
