Major Troy L. Gilbert honored
Brig. Gen. Noel T. Jones, the 56th Fighter Wing commander gives the American flag to Ginger Gilbert, spouse of Air Force Major Troy Gilbert, Dec 11 at Arlington National Cemetery. Major Troy Gilbert was laid to rest here with a full honors funeral and received two medals posthumously, the Distinguished Flying Cross with Valor and the Purple Heart. Major Troy L. Gilbert was the pilot of an Air Force F-16C engaged in support of coalition ground combat operations that crashed approximately 20 miles northwest of Baghdad November 27, 2006. Gilbert was assigned to the 309th Fighter Squadron, Luke Air Force Base, Arizona, and was deployed to the 332nd ExpeditionaryWing, Balad Air Force Base, Iraq.
