  • Warrior Games make triumphant return to Colorado Springs

    Community and business leaders joined representatives of the military at the Air Force Academy last night to mark the 100-day countdown until athletes arrive in Colorado for the 2018 Department of Defense Warrior Games. Now in their ninth year, the Warrior Games are returning to Colorado Springs, the city that hosted the inaugural Games in 2010. The Warrior Games will be free and open to the public throughout the competitions from June 2 – 9, 2018.

    While the new officers of the U.S. Air Force Academy's Class of 2017 must never stop learning, it's time to lead, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said at graduation ceremonies in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Marine Corps Gen. Joe Dunford thanked the 979 graduates for answering the call to duty in a very challenging time.

    The first round of wheelchair basketball brought some fierce competition between the services during the 2014 Warrior Games at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Sept. 29.
  • AF starts with clean sweep in sitting volleyball

    Competition began Sept. 28 at the 2014 Warrior Games with four games of sitting volleyball to start the round-robin tournament at the U.S. Olympic Training Center's Sports Centers 1 and 2. Air Force made it a clean sweep of their back-to-back games. The first game against Army provided a close competition as the Air Force won 2-1 (25-22, 17-25, 15-13). In the second game, facing-off against Special Operations, Air Force made it a quick 2-0 win (25-12, 25-16).
  • 2014 Warrior Games to kick off

    Beginning Sept. 28, for seven days, 40 Air Force veteran athletes will compete head-to-head within various adaptive sports for the Warrior Games alongside more than 210 other warriors from the Air Force’s sister services, taking place at the Olympic Training Center, Fort Carson and Garry Barry Stadium at Wasson High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Sept. 28th thru Oct. 4th.

Seth Pena, a highly decorated tactical air control party member, noted for calling in coordinated close support air strikes that killed up to 70 Taliban members in one fight, sat down with a crossbow draped across his lap and a target 25 meters in front of him, reminiscing about the night that changed his life forever.
  • Civil Air Patrol member receives the Congressional Gold Medal for WWII service

    The Congressional Gold Medal is the highest ranking civilian award. Joining a prestigious list of recipients, the U.S. House of Representatives' voted on May 19, to award the Civil Air Patrol the Congressional Gold Medal for its volunteer service during World War II, when more than 120,000 members volunteered to support the military effort and help keep the nation secure. Long-time Colorado Springs resident Wayne Field is one of the surviving members to receive this honor.
