  • Innovation Hub: Travis AFB partners with VR company to enhance training

    A team from Sketchbox Inc., an augmented and virtual reality prototyping company based in San Francisco, took six hours Sept. 6 to obtain multiple 3D scans of the C-5M Super Galaxy at Travis Air Force Base.
  • Travis AFB produces first certified 3-D printed aircraft parts

    The Stratasys F900 3D printer, which is capable of printing plastic parts up to 36-by-24-by-36 inches, uses a material called Ultem 9085 that is more flexible, dense and stronger than typical plastic.

  • Equipment specialist saves AF money by building simulator

    Just a few months into his work as equipment specialist with Air Force engineering and technical services for the 732nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Tangog, a retired master sergeant noticed his leadership was looking for ways to save money on training. He had an idea. He wanted to build a C-5M Super Galaxy maintenance trainer to train Airmen at Elmendorf instead of sending them to the continental U.S.
  • Reserve aircrew deliver food to thousands in Nicaragua

    Reserve Airmen from the 512th Airlift Wing delivered 125,000 pounds of humanitarian supplies to Nicaragua aboard a C-5M Super Galaxy Dec. 20, just in time for the holidays.
