MAJOR GENERAL DAVID M. EDGINGTON Maj. Gen. David M. Edgington is Chief of Staff, U.S. Joint Forces Command, Norfolk, Va. He is responsible for managing the command's warfighting initiatives and providing guidance to the command's executive staff on day-to-day matters. Additionally, he supervises all matters pertaining to manpower and personnel, financial management, programming and budgeting, security, knowledge management, protocol and administration. General Edgington entered military service after graduating from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1977. A distinguished graduate of undergraduate navigator training, Air Command and Staff College, and Naval War College, he has flown the F-111 and F-15E in operational assignments, and the T-43 as an instructor. He served in staff positions on the Air Staff, Joint Staff and as special assistant to the Supreme Allied Commander Europe during NATO's Operation Allied Force in Kosovo. The general has commanded the 4th Operations Group and 4th Fighter Wing at Seymour Johnson AFB, N.C. He served as Deputy Commander of the Air Armament Center at Eglin AFB, Fla., and as Deputy Commander of Combined Air Operations Center 6, Turkey, where he led NATO's first Article 4 defensive operation, defending Turkey during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He served as Director, Global Power Programs for Air Force Acquisition managing all Air Force fighter, bomber and weapons programs. Prior to his current assignment, he briefly served as USJFCOM Director, Joint Capability Development upon return from his deployment as Director, Air Component Coordination Element, Multi-National Force-Iraq, Baghdad, Iraq.
