Marilyn M. Thomas, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is Deputy Under Secretary of the Air Force, Management and Deputy Chief Management Officer, Office of the Under Secretary of the Air Force, Washington, D.C.  Ms. Thomas exercises the Under Secretary's Chief Management Officer responsibility for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of Air Force business operations. In that role, she advises Air Force senior leadership on establishing strategic performance goals and managing Air Force-wide cross-functional activities to meet those goals. She also serves as the Air Force’s Director of Business Transformation, overseeing implementation of continuous process improvement initiatives Air Force wide.

Ms. Thomas, a native of Stillwater, Oklahoma, began her career with the Air Force as a Palace Acquire intern upon graduation from Oklahoma State University. She has held progressively more responsible positions within the Air Force and the Marine Corps in the areas of budget formulation, program integration and resource management.  Her experience spans several appropriations and functional areas, including cost, budget, and acquisition. Ms. Thomas assumed her current position in September 2014.
