BRIGADIER GENERAL DAVID E. PETERSEN Brig. Gen. David E. Petersen is the Deputy Director of Intelligence, Operations and Nuclear Integration for Flying Training, Headquarters Air Education and Training Command, Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas. He is responsible for developing policies and programming resources for aircrew training programs. These include undergraduate flying, post-graduate combat crew, and supplemental training for the Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, Army, Reserve and Guard personnel; international partners; and Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training. Along with formulating training policy, he maintains the ability to respond to peacetime contingencies and expeditionary requirements, and to execute AETC command and control in peace and war. General Petersen received his commission in 1984 as a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. He has held previous staff positions in the Office of the Deputy Under Secretary of the Air Force (International Affairs) in Washington, D.C., and as the Director of the Air, Land, Sea Application Center, Langley Air Force Base, Va. General Petersen has commanded the 85th Operations Squadron, Keflavik Naval Air Station, Iceland; the 47th Operations Group, Laughlin AFB, Texas; and the 80th Flying Training Wing, Sheppard AFB, Texas. As Commander of the 80th Flying Training Wing, he was responsible for the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training Program. Prior to his current position, General Petersen served as Deputy U.S. Military Representative, NATO Military Committee, Brussels, Belgium. The general is a command pilot and has flown more than 4,100 hours while serving as an instructor pilot and flight examiner in the F-15C, T-38 and T-6 aircraft. He has combat hours during operations Desert Storm and Provide Comfort.
