Jan. 11 marks 6,000 consecutive days in Southwest Asia
Shortly after an RC-135 Rivet Joint returns to it's desert base in the Persian Gulf following a mission over Iraq, the first of 34 crew members begin to exit the aircraft. The aircraft, deployed from the 55th Wing at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., has maintained a constant presence in Southwest Asia for 6,000 days since Aug. 9, 1990, just prior to Operation Desert Shield.
