    An Airman who has been missing since Dec. 1 has been identified as Airman Alec M. Dye. Dye was deployed to Andersen Air Force Base from the 2nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, and was last seen near Tarague Beach, Guam.

    Airmen participating in Operation Christmas Drop here, coordinated with non-governmental organizations and State Department officials in the region to airdrop critical shipments of water and food for 30 workers recovering from damage caused by Typhoon Haiyan on Kayangel Island, part of the Republic of Palau in the western Pacific Ocean Dec. 11.
  • AF, Marines, Navy take part in 3-day surge during Exercise Forager Fury II

    Various units from the U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force came together to exercise their ability to conduct combat operations across the Pacific by participating in a nonstop operations surge Dec. 10 to Dec. 13 on Guam and the nearby island of Tinian.
  • Operation Christmas Drop continues as Pacific tradition

    Base volunteers here will team up with Airmen from Yokota Air Base, Japan, to conduct humanitarian airdrops over the remote islands of Micronesia in the Western Pacific this week. Volunteers here have been spreading the holiday cheer to surrounding islands since December 1952. Operation Christmas Drop is the longest running humanitarian airlift mission supported by the Department of Defense.
  • Guam Airmen in the mix for Damayan support

    Airmen from Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, deployed to the Philippines last week in support of ongoing humanitarian assistance and disaster relief efforts in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan. A four-person advance team from the 36th Contingency Response Group deployed to Villamor Air Base early last week. Additionally a 12-person assessment team plus a 37-person team deployed to Tacloban airport later in the week. The final 36th CRG contingent of 29 additional members deployed to support relief efforts at Clark Air Base.
  • Continuous bomber presence exemplifies Global Vigilance, Global Reach, Global Power

    Barksdale aviators, maintainers and B-52H Stratofortress aircraft deployed to Andersen AFB, Guam, the last week of August to demonstrate the United States' continued commitment to stability and security in the Asia-Pacific region.
