Pararescuemen from the 58th Rescue Squadron rescue victims of Hurricane Harvey, Aug. 30, 2017, Orange, Texas. The 347th and 563d Rescue Groups from Moody Air Force Base, Georgia, Nellis AFB, Nevada, and Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona, sent rescue boat teams to Orange County, and the surrounding areas in support of Federal Emergency Management Agency during Hurricane Harvey disaster response efforts.

Airmen from the 48th Rescue Squadron responded to recovery operations for Hurricane Harvey, arriving at Easterwood Airfield, College Station, Texas, with approximately 20 members, Aug. 29, 2017. The mission is to provide boat-based rescue support in addition to current efforts in southeast Texas.

As one of the only human based weapon systems in the Air Force, Guardian Angel must have highly trained personnel dedicated to the Air Force core function of personnel recovery. Guardian Angel is comprised of combat rescue officers, pararescuemen, and survival, evasion, resistance, and escape specialists. The 68th Rescue Flight, also known as the Guardian Angel Formal Training Unit, was stood up in 2014 at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.
