In February of 2016, Black was almost finished with her technical training at Beale Air Force Base, California, when she said she began to experience abdominal cramps and unusual bloating. When her symptoms worsened, Black decided to visit a doctor to figure out if something was wrong.

From base landscaping to office computers, nearly everything found at Ellsworth Air Force Base flows through the 28th Contracting Squadron. Among the Airmen leading the charge is Staff Sgt. Chris Meyer, a contract administrator with the squadron. Meyer provides contracting support and business advice to Ellsworth AFB and combatant commanders, as he deals with base contracts daily.
