Compass Call receives navigation upgrade
Since it became operational, the EC-130H Compass Call has demonstrated its electronic combat power in tactical air operations around the world, and this year the aircraft has achieved another first. The aircraft has received an avionic viability program upgrade to make it more effective in combat and while maintaining compliance with federal and international aviation regulations.

Airman finds voice in virtual world
Some people attach a social stigma to video games and the people who play them -- when they picture a gamer, they don’t think of a well-lit room, socialization and a strong sense of community. Airman 1st Class Anthony Webb isn’t the stereotypical gamer. His dorm room is set up as a small studio, complete with a green screen, a professional microphone and three high-definition monitors.

AFSOUTH partnership brings illicit air drug trafficking to a halt
In 2010, illegal drugs were being flown into the Dominican Republic at an alarming rate. The continual issue of drug trafficking led the Dominican government to seek new aircraft and tactics to deal with the problem. They turned to the U.S. Southern Command, which is responsible for U.S. military involvement in South America, Central America and the Caribbean. U.S. Southern Command turned to its air component, Air Forces Southern at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona, for expertise in interdicting illicit air traffic and regaining air sovereignty and the Sovereign Skies program was born.
