Largest military solar energy project in Northeast breaks ground on JB MDL
Miranda A.A. Ballentine, the assistant secretary of the Air Force for installations, environment and energy, and Brig. Gen. Michael Cunniff, the adjutant general of New Jersey, helped break ground on a 98-acre solar farm at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Dec. 21.
The 16.5-megawatt solar energy project will be the largest military solar installation in the Northeast and will include more than 50,000 solar panels when it’s completed in 2017.

AF heads to Haiti for Matthew relief
A C-17 Globemaster III with personnel and equipment from the 621st Contingency Response Wing at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey, left for for Haiti Oct. 6 in response to Hurricane Matthew. The 621st CRW has units continuously on alert and ready to deploy anywhere in the world in support of emergency operations, such as hurricane relief, within 12 hours of notification.

Mindfulness over matter
At 10 a.m. on any given Wednesday, one could walk into the 305th Operations Support Squadron's leadership meeting and see a strange sight. Airmen sit around the conference room table and in chairs along the walls, variously clothed in a sea of green flight suits and Airman battle uniforms. Each has their eyes closed, boot heels planted on the floor, palms flat against their thighs. Hush reigns. Only the sound of each person's gentle, deep breathing can be heard.

Linking continents through refueling
Eight KC-10 Extenders, including two from the 32nd Air Refueling Squadron, refueled seven C-17 Globemaster IIIs over the Atlantic Ocean as they participated in the Trident Juncture exercise Nov. 3.
Trident Juncture included 36,000 personnel from more than 30 nations and demonstrated NATO's increased level of capabilities in joint modern warfare.
