Command committed to saving energy, reducing costs
Saving energy and reducing costs is something many people strive to do. When an energy bill exceeds $150 million, it becomes a necessity.
The energy tab for U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa for fiscal year 2013 was a whopping $157.5 million. Since 2003, energy costs have risen about 10 percent, on average annually. These rising costs inspired the command to find ways to save money and precious resources.

Polish, US forces improve interoperability at Lask AB
Four F-16 Fighting Falcons, two F-22 Raptors and a C-130 Hercules arrived at Lask Air Base Aug. 31.
The Airmen and aircraft are in Poland for separate flying training events with allies to demonstrate the countries' shared commitment to the collective security of NATO and the enduring peace and stability of the region.

Lt. Gen. Timothy M. Ray, the 3rd Air Force and 17th Expeditionary Air Force commander, had dreams of flying his whole life, and at the end of his freshman year of high school, determined the U.S. Air Force Academy would make his dream a reality.

The remains of an Airman missing since World War II, have been identified and are being returned to his family for burial with full military honors, said the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency in a Defense Department news release issued Aug. 6.
