1/11/2011 12:13:13 PM ET The reasoning for having someone experience OC and Taser is to not only understand the effects they are putting a person through, but in addition, personal taser/stun guns are carried by the populace as well as pepper spray. The point behind it is to understand the effects regarding an SF response but also teach individuals, should they themselves be subjected to OC, for example, how to fight through it because their life may depend on that muscle memory.

1/11/2011 7:48:21 AM ET In my civilian police academy I got sprayed tased and had to fight a real fight 3 times. Of course they don't have to get shot thats just stupid. But the others are necessary to know what kind of incapactiation to expect and to understand that you can right through the spray and why deadly force is justified if tazed. Now if the govt allows select members to be armed with one in the chamber for the inevitable next active shooter incident maybe we won't bury so much of our own.

1/10/2011 10:35:06 PM ET Funny, how you never read new security forces members get trained by being shot with the M-9 when they first arrive at their squadron. Same thought applies to tazers, etc.
