3/8/2011 - HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M (AFNS) -- An Airman here was sentenced March 2 following a general court-martial.
Senior Airman Phillip Warren, a 24-year-old materiel maintenance specialist with the 49th Logistics Readiness Squadron, was found guilty on the counts of premeditated attempted murder, absence without leave, wrongful appropriation of a vehicle and assault resulting in grievous bodily injury.
Airman Warren was sentenced to a dishonorable discharge, 22 years confinement, reduction in grade to E-1 and forfeiture of all pay and allowances.

3/10/2011 3:46:17 AM ET @NCO, this was probably hell for the supervisor of this Airman whereas they kept telling the chain of command, "We don't need him in my AF." But only given the lingo, "They'll shape up, quit being so hard on this guy." Along with "It's your fault they ain't right. I getting sick and tired of this Airman..." While that NCO can only look at them like how former Sec of Def Collin Powell did to Bush. And to think they think we want the change to our moral standards.

3/9/2011 9:21:07 PM ET NCO, as a SNCO who works in the military justice system, I review every court-martial and discharge package within our numbered Air Force. I can tell you there are very few bad apples that slip through the cracks of our recruiting system, less than 1 percent. Most of the people who end up with Article 15s, courts-martial, or admin discharges are simply young adults with poor decision-making skills and/or have never been taught basic values like our core values. Basically, they just make silly choices because of immaturity and lack of guidance. Most of those problem Airmen start small with their silliness. Because of that I would wager that almost half of those packages that come across my desk could be prevented. They could be prevented if a first-line supervisor, mostly NCOs like you, would have taken the time to address the little things early, to come alongside the Airman and really be a supervisor.
