2/15/2012 - JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas (AFNS) -- Air Force officials announced the nominees of the 63rd Annual Arthur S. Flemming Award recently.

The Flemming award annually recognizes outstanding federal employees who made significant and extraordinary contributions to the federal government.

The following are the Air Force nominees for the award:

Basic Science category: Maj. Katherine A. Todorov from Patrick Air Force Base, Fla.

Managerial or Legal Achievement category: Matthew P.Giles from the Air Force District of Washington, and Michael R. VandenBoom from Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.

Applied Science, Engineering and Mathematics category: Eric J. Kitchen from Eglin AFB, and Capt. Joshua A. Burger from Patrick AFB.

Military nominees are authorized to wear the Air Force Recognition Ribbon. Each of the civilian nominees is authorized to wear the Air Force Recognition Lapel Pin.

A panel of nationally prominent judges will choose the final winners. The awards will be presented at the 63rd Annual Arthur S. Flemming Awards Program in Washington, D.C., June 1.
