4/18/2012 - JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas  -- Each year the Air Force chief of staff presents the Chief of Staff Team Excellence Award to teams that use a systematic approach to enhance mission capability, improve operational performance and create sustained results.

Nominations for this year's award are due June 29. Major commands, headquarters Air Force, including field operating agencies and direct reporting units, and the Air National Guard can each nominate one team to compete for the award.

Last year, winners' improvements and innovations created sustained results that saved the Air Force $230 million in first year savings, said Grover Lindsey, chief of Air Force Manpower Agency performance management division, which administers the award.

This year's competitors will present their process improvements to a panel of senior executive service and general officer judges with up to five winners announced in a ceremony presided by the CSAF.

Guidelines for the award are available in AFI 36-2868, Chief of Staff Team Excellence Award.
