8/24/2012 - KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. (AFNS) -- Editor's Note: This is a message from the Airman-to-Airman Safety Advisory Council members. A2A was developed to advise the Air Force Chief of Safety on ways to reach the 17- 26-year-old age group. They were nominated by the major commands and take every opportunity to tell their stories as a tool in mishap prevention. Some of the venues the Council members use to convey their messages are videos, other public service announcements and commander's calls.

Labor Day weekend is known for fun, relaxing and spending time with family and friends. It's also the last holiday weekend of the summer. If you're like us, you want to make the most of it. But remember that your family and friends want you to be smart about everything you do. Smart planning and safety awareness are ways to prevent impatience and complacency from turning your Labor Day weekend into a disaster.

As you enjoy the remaining days of warm weather and the holiday activities, please be a good wingman, use good judgment and remember, "Safety -- It's Personal." The decisions you make affect more than just you; they can also affect your family, friends and your co-workers. If you think about it, they can even affect your entire Air Force family!

We are members of the Airman-to-Airman Safety Advisory Council (A2A) because we've had personal safety experiences and want you to learn from our lessons.

A2A wishes you a happy, fun and safe Labor Day weekend!
