4/5/2013 - JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas (AFNS) -- Eligible officers and enlisted members have until Aug. 1 to submit their application for separation under the fiscal 2013 voluntary force management programs, Air Force officials reminded Airmen today.

Announced in February, FY13 force management programs support the Air Force effort to reduce manning to the authorized end-strength by Sept. 30.

Officer programs, available for specific year groups and overage career fields, include time in grade waivers for eligible lieutenant colonels, limited active-duty service commitment waivers, Palace Chase transfers to the Air National Guard or Air Force Reserve, and the 10 to 8 Commissioned Years of Service Waiver program.

Enlisted voluntary programs, for those who are not in critical specialties, include limited active duty service commitment and time-in-grade waivers, waivers to enlistment contracts, and Palace Chase transfers to the Air National Guard or Air Force Reserve.

Applications, due Aug. 1, must be submitted via the virtual MPF. Those approved for retirement must retire by Sept. 1. Separations must be completed by Sept. 29.

Airmen who separate or retire must attend the mandatory five-day Transition Assistance Program workshop. TAP helps Airmen prepare for post-military life, offering instruction and guidance on resume development, job hunting and more.

Full eligibility requirements and application procedures for officer and enlisted force management programs are available on myPers at https://mypers.af.mil. Enter PSDM 13-09 in the search window for officer programs and PSDM 13-10 for enlisted programs.

Hmm we've seen this one before. Offer to let a whole bunch of people out...600 volunteer and then are told no. Kick out 189 people who want and have earned the right to stay. Same pathetic force management different day. Either you're in a drawdown or you're not. Why don't we draw down aircraft no one wantsneeds or system redundancies instead of always going after people

@ MEL FYI I do not care if I had to look it up the fact is I am making an observation it mentions nothing about the steps in which Airmen need to follow to make sure they are able to participate in the volunteer programs. I had to make sure myself because it was very vague and left other Airmen including myself wondering. No one is complaining about looking it up I do not mind going and finding information out myself. Stop over analyzing my comment.

@ Patrick did you really expect a news article to spoon-feed you the eligiblity requirements for every AFSC That's ridiculous. I can't believe you literally complained that you had to look up and gasp analyze the situation yourself. @NCO AF... incentives are based on TIS. A few years back the AF was doubling separation pay for volunteers under certain programs but not at the moment. Also DOS Rollback is not always due to a negative factor. People who decline assignments or training are caught up in Rollback. These people get nothing more than TIG separation pay... same as the folks who do the vol separation.

You'll get the incentives based on TIS...But that's no reason to base your early sep

Or why people can't pass a PT test and get a medical separation then demand a retirement ceremony

Why is it...people who do right their entire career and elect to get out early get nothing at separation and those who had missteps during their career and get a DOS rollback get extra money and benefits when they the boot

They really should inform Airmen about the Matrix in this article. Because based off reading this I think I am eligible In reality I am not because my time in- service and career- field... They don't tell you that part I had to look it up myself... It's almost like a game... My career field has to be 10 years in before you are eligible...O_o

Is this is all that will be offered for now or is there a possibility the AF will authorize TERA again this year
