BACKGROUND AND TECHNICAL INFORMATION

ALL STILL IMAGES AND VIDEO MUST BE GATHERED ON APRIL 8, 2015

All participants must clear involvement with this project with their chain of command. Images must be cleared following specific service requirements. Distribution/collection requirements to follow, but will be no later than April 13, 2015.


VIDEO FILE NAMING CONVENTIONS:

All video submissions should be named as follows: Service_Location_TimeShot_Description.mp4

ex. USAF_RamsteinAB_0900-1400_FlightlineOps.mp4

ex. USN_NASPensacola_1600-1900_DisasterPreparation.mp4

**Please ensure you place your VIRIN in the file data**

DIMOC upload process should follow DoDI 5040.02, as should captioning, except for the file name.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION:

STILL IMAGERY:

  • All photos and interviews will be acquired on April 8, 2015
  • All submissions must contain a VIRIN in the headline field
  • All still imagery must be produced in line with DoD Instruction 5040.2, Visual Information
  • An edit of 10-20 images from the day will be transmitted
  • Ensure camera clock is correct and accurate
  • All images must:
    - Be 300 DPI, JPEG
    - Contain full captions
    - Include a Vision ID
    - Include tag #AFD2015 in DIMOC description
    - Only full resolution cell phone photos will be accepted

MOTION IMAGERY:

  • All media and interviews must be acquired April 8, 2015
  • Motion imagery distributed will be b-roll (prime cuts) and interviews for transmission purposes. No video “packages” will be used
  • Ensure camera clock is correct and accurate
    *Timecodes are only required for coordinated multiple camera shoots. In this case footage must be sent raw otherwise the timecode will be stripped.
  • All motion imagery will be:
    - H264 codec, 1920x1080 progressive
    - Target bitrate at least 10
    - Include tag #AFD2015 in description
    - Cell phone videos will be accepted but we can't guarantee all codecs will work within the constraints of our encoder
    *Vertical fotage will be rejected

The saber represents military action and refers to the heritage of Air Force Studies and Analysis, AF/SA, callsign Saber.
