Week In Photos features Airmen around the globe

  • Published
The "Week In Photos" Web feature provides visitors with photos highlighting Air Force missions around the world. Among this week's photos are:

In Africa, Staff Sgt. Myla Baker and Senior Airman Jacob Buckley give school supplies to teachers and students at the Gisimba orphanage in Kigali, Rwanda. Airmen from the 786th Air Expeditionary Squadron collect and donate items to local communities between missions in support of the African Union's peacekeeping mission in Darfur, Sudan.

At Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M., Air Force CV-22 Ospreys take off for a training mission. The Osprey is a tiltrotor aircraft that combines the vertical takeoff, hover and landing qualities of a helicopter with the normal flight characteristics of a turboprop aircraft.

Terry Walter monitors a controlled burn at Tyndall AFB, Fla. Controlled burns are being conducted in several areas on the base in an effort to increase fire safety and improve wildlife environments. Mr. Walter is the land fire program manager for the 325th Civil Engineer Squadron.

Photos representing these stories are just three of the 10 highlighted in "Week in Photos."
