Operation Unity Knight brings relief to Kenya

Humanitarian and civic assistance supplies are ready to be palletized and loaded onto a C-130 Hercules for an airdrop Dec. 9. The Air Force is dropping more than 240,000 pounds of supplies to flood refugees in eastern Kenya. After weeks of rain in Dadaab region in Kenya, camps housing about 160,000 Somali refugees who fled their country 14 years ago following an uprising were damaged and many crops were destroyed. The Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa military officials monitoring the developments began Operation Unity Knight and sent an Air Force C-130 assigned to the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing based in Southwest Asia because the roads in the area were impassable.
