Explosive ordnance disposal master and senior master sergeants may now be eligible for a critical skills retention bonus (CSRB).

In an effort to meet mission requirements and retain senior-level experienced Airmen in critically undermanned specialties, EOD has been added to the CSRB list effective in May 2015.

EOD master and senior master sergeants who have at least 20 years of service, but no more than 22 years of service, will be offered the bonus. Master sergeants will automatically get a high year tenure (HYT) waiver upon reenlisting under the retention program. Master sergeants who accept CSRB at 20 years or more will have their HYT adjusted to 25 years, the maximum allowed under the CSRB program.

Depending on the individual situation, bonuses could be between $30,000 and $75,000 total, payable in a lump sum or periodic installments. Eligible Airmen who reenlist on or after the May 13 effective date will be eligible for the retention bonus.
