  • AFCEC begins rollout of high-tech EOD robots to installations

    Over the next 16-18 months, AFCEC will deliver 333 high-tech robots to every EOD flight Air Force-wide, said Master Sgt. Justin Frewin, AFCEC EOD equipment program manager. Each active-duty, Guard and Reserve flight will receive 3-5 robots.
  • AFIMSC Airman earns USMC leadership school distinction

    Master Sgt. Paul Willson, an explosive ordnance disposal and emergency management training and support manager in the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center Expeditionary Support Directorate, earned distinguished graduate honors when he completed the school in September.

    In 2016, the ATF began investigating a prior convicted felon for the possession and distribution of commercial explosives without a federal license or permit, which is prohibited by law.

  • CSAF Speaks at 50th EOD Memorial Ceremony

    For fifty years, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal community have come together to commemorate those whom have made the ultimate sacrifice. Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David L. Goldfein led the ceremony, reminding America of the significance of the EOD Memorial and the names etched on the wall where lines of history and heroism intersect.   • Ellsworth AFB EOD team responds to accident with truck carrying Navy projectiles

    A six-man team from the 28th Civil Engineer Squadron explosive ordnance disposal flight responded to a vehicle collision on Highway 212 in Montana last month. The crash involved two tractor trailers – one carrying fertilizer and the other U.S. Navy high-explosive projectiles.
  • EOD Airmen detect, disarm, protect

    The Joint Defense Operations Center calls about a confirmed or suspected explosive ordnance disposal incident. Three Airmen rush out the door, set up their truck and immediately depart for the incident site. They head out with a security element to safely transport them to the location. For them it is now an information game and race against time.
  • Air Force offers EOD retention bonuses

    The Air Force has been granted an exception to policy enabling it to offer Selective Retention Bonuses to a wider population of Explosive Ordnance Disposal senior noncommissioned officers, if they agree to continue serving in EOD for a minimum of three years.

    Bronze statues can be seen almost anywhere but one rarely hears the amazing stories behind their creation. The spouse of a Reserve Airman here at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona, recently sculpted a bust of Senior Airman Daniel Johnson, 30th Civil Engineer Squadron explosive ordnance disposal technician, Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. Johnson was killed in action Oct. 5, 2010, while serving during Operation Enduring Freedom.
