  • Air Guard’s ‘Baby Doc’ overcomes early health condition to become leader in pandemic battle

    Undeterred by a rare health condition early in life, Nevada Air Guard 1st Lt. Caleena Longworth is now on the front line of health care in southern Nevada during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Few in the state have vaccinated more people than Longworth, who has personally administered the vaccine to more than 4,000 people while acquiring the nickname “Baby Doc” from her health care coworkers given her youthful appearance. And she did that all while finishing her medical doctorate at University of Nevada, Las Vegas’ Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine this spring.

    Thirty-eight Airmen with the Alaska Air National Guard's 176th Wing helped build homes for Cherokee veterans in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, May 15-29, as part of the Defense Department’s Innovative Readiness Training program.

    According to the assistant director of operations at the 174th Operations Support Squadron, capabilities include battlefield and airspace communications enhancements as well as target identification tracking and processing.
  • Hawaii F-22s complete DFE operations out of MCAS Iwakuni

    Throughout their time in Japan, the Airmen deployed from the 199th Fighter Squadron and 19th FS at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, trained alongside their Marine and Koku-Jieitai, or Japan Air Self-Defense Force, counterparts in support of the National Defense Strategy’s effort in maintaining global peace and stability.

    The discussion was scheduled as the capstone event for the wing’s Women’s History Month and provided Airmen a chance to have their questions directly addressed by the first female chief master sergeant of the Air Force.
  • New active component added to Air National Guard KC-135 at Eielson AFB

    The department plans to add four additional KC-135s and up to 220 additional active duty personnel making it a total force unit and increasing the squadron’s total KC-135 aircraft to 12. The personnel will be reassigned from within the Air Force.
