MAJOR GENERAL MAURICE H. "MAURY" FORSYTH

Maj. Gen. Maury Forsyth is Commander, Curtis E. LeMay Center for Doctrine Development and Education, and Vice Commander, Air University, Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala. The center is responsible for the research, development, and production of Air Force doctrine and input for joint and multinational doctrine development activities. The center is also responsible for advocating the proper doctrinal representation of air, space and cyberspace power in exercise scenarios, war games, models and simulations, and providing policy and guidance of Air Force doctrine through education and focused outreach. Air University is responsible for Air Force enlisted and officer professional military education, professional continuing education and graduate education, as well as officer commissioning through Officer Training School and the Reserve Officer Training Corps.

General Forsyth was born in Brookings, S.D. He was commissioned in 1978 through the Air Force ROTC at South Dakota State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology. The general completed undergraduate navigator training in 1979 and undergraduate pilot training in 1984. With more than 3,500 total hours and 730 combat hours, General Forsyth has served in operations Desert Storm, Southern Watch, Northern Watch, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. He has commanded two squadrons, a combined force air component, two centers and a fighter wing. Additionally, he has served on the headquarters staffs of Tactical Air Command, Air Combat Command, Allied Air Forces North, NATO, U.S. Air Forces in Europe and the Joint Staff.
