BRIGADIER GENERAL THOMAS C. HRUSKOCY Brigadier General Thomas C. Hruskocy (pronounced Russ-ko-see) is deputy chief of staff for logistics, Headquarters Strategic Air Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Neb. General Hruskocy was born in 1943, in Whiting, Ind., and graduated from Whiting High School in 1961. He earned a bachelor of science degree from Purdue University in 1965 and a master of business administration degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1975. The general completed Squadron Officer School in 1975, Air Command and Staff College in 1977, and Industrial College of the Armed Forces in 1982. He was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program, then, in December 1966, completed the Avionics Officer Course, Keesler Air Force Base, Miss. He next served as operations officer for atmospheric research, 6th Weather Wing, Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas. In December 1968 he transferred to the 56th Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, Yokota Air Base, Japan, where he supervised the organizational and avionics maintenance units. Later, he was officer-in-charge of maintenance control for the unit's WC-135B's and RB-57F's. In May 1972 he returned to Keesler Air Force Base as chief of the 3390th Technical Training Group's Electronic Warfare and Navigation Systems branches. On graduation from the Air Command and Staff College in June 1977, the general assumed command of the AT-38B-equipped 479th Aircraft Generation Squadron, Holloman Air Force Base, N.M. In July 1979 he commanded the F4E, RF-4C and OV-1O-equipped 51st Aircraft Generation Squadron, Osan Air Base, South Korea. Upon return to the United States in July 1980, he was assigned to the Directorate of Maintenance Policy, Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense, Washington, D.C. He attended the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, and, upon graduation in June 1982, reported to the Ogden Air Logistics Center, Hill Air Force Base, Utah. He first was deputy chief of the Industrial Products and Landing Gear Division, then chief of the Maintenance Resources Management Division. In July 1984 General Hruskocy was assigned to the Air Staff, Washington, D.C., as deputy of the Logistics Concepts Division, then as deputy special assistant to both the deputy chief of staff for logistics and engineering, and the deputy chief of staff for research, development and acquisition. There, he co-authored the original Reliability and Maintainability 2000 Plan. In January 1985 he transferred to the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center, Tinker Air Force Base, Okla., as chief of the Maintenance Resources Management and Material Management Resources divisions. In May 1988 General Hruskocy became director of material management, and directed 2,700 military and civilian personnel in production, logistics, program management and engineering support of aircraft, missiles, engines and components. He was responsible for system support of the B-1, B-52, C/KC-135, KC-10, E-4, presidential aircraft and the E-3 Airborne Warning and Control System. In November 1990 General Hruskocy became special assistant to the commander. He assumed his present position In May 1991. His military awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit with oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters and Air Force Commendation Medal. He was awarded the Freedom Foundation's George Washington Honor Medal and named the Pacific Air Forces Outstanding Field Grade Maintenance Officer of 1979. He was promoted to brigadier general Oct. 1, 1990, with same date of rank. (Current as of December 1991)
