BRIGADIER GENERAL PAUL C. WILKINS

Paul C. Wilkins was born on Sept. 27, 1895, at Angels Camp, Calif. He attended the University of California and served as a Flying Cadet from December 1918 to July 1918. On July 24, 1918, he was appointed a second lieutenant (temporary) in the Air Service. He was commissioned a second lieutenant, Air Service, in the Regular Army on July 1, 1920.

He entered the School of Military Aeronautics at Berkeley, Calif., in December 1917 as a Flying Cadet, graduating in February 1918 as a Reserve Military Aviator. In March 1918 he was transferred to Eberts Field, Ark., where he continued his primary flying training. In October 1919 he went to Ellington Field, Texas, for duty with the Air Service Mechanics School, where he remained until February 1920.

He then became a Flight Engineer Officer in the 12th Army Observation Squadron at Douglas, Ariz. In January 1921 he was transferred to Bolling Field, D.C. He was assigned as Engineering Officer of the 99th Squadron, Bolling Field, D.C., in December 1921. In February 1924 he joined the 61st Service Squadron at Luke Field, Hawaii, and in November 1925 transferred to the 72nd Bombardment Squadron as Assistant Engineer Officer and Marine Transportation Officer.

Returning to the United States, he was ordered to Crissy Field, Calif., for duty with the 91st Observation Squadron. In February 1928 he entered the Special Observation Course at the Air Corps Advanced Flying School, Kelly Field, Texas, and completed the course in June 1928. He then returned to Crissy Field, Presidio of San Francisco, Calif., as Supply Officer of the 91st Observation Squadron.

He was named Air Corps Station Supply Officer at Crissy Field in July 1928. In October 1930 he was named Post Adjutant at Crissy Field. He went to Fort Sill, Okla., in July 1932 for duty with Flight "E," 16th Observation Squadron, Air Corps, and in September 1933 became Air Corps Station Supply Officer at Fort Sill. He was named Observer in Flight "E," 16th Observation Squadron, at Fort Sill in October 1934. In January 1936 he was assigned to the Middletown Air Depot, Pa., as Meteorology Officer and Observation Officer. He also served in other staff capacities.

He became Executive Officer, Middletown Air Depot, in July 1937, and in April 1940 was designated Air Corps Supply Officer, Air Corps Advanced Flying School, Kelly Field, Texas. The following July he was assigned as Post Chemical Officer, and in August 1940 was designated Station Air Corps Supply Officer at Headquarters Air Corps Advanced Flying School. In July 1941 he was designated Commanding Officer, Kelly Field. In July 1942 he assumed command of the San Antonio Air Depot and Control Area Command, Duncan Filed, Texas.

He is rated a pilot and combat observer.
