BRIGADIER GENERAL (DR.) DANIEL O. WYMAN

Brig. Gen. (Dr.) Daniel O. Wyman is Command Surgeon, Air Combat Command, Langley Air Force Base, Va. He organizes, trains, equips and maintains combat-ready medical forces for rapid deployment and employment. He is responsible to the ACC Commander for the health of 79,000 active-duty and civilian personnel located at 13 bases and more than 300 operating locations worldwide through medical contingency operations; a comprehensive, community-based health care system; and human-in-the-weapon system expertise. As the Combat Air Forces medical lead agent, ACC develops medical strategy, doctrine, concepts, tactics and procedures for medical air power employment. The Office of the Command Surgeon is also the Air Force's medical global force provider supporting U.S. Joint Forces Command with wartime taskings and worldwide crisis response. General Wyman also serves as the Air Force Surgeon General's Medical Corps Chief. He represents more than 3,300 Air Force physicians both internally, overseeing the recruitment, accession, training and education, and externally, contributing to diverse military and medical forums, and serves as the Air Force Surgeon General's consultant on Medical Corps matters.

General Wyman entered the Air Force in May 1981 as a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. He completed residencies in family practice, aerospace medicine and occupational medicine, and holds a master's degree in public health. He is a chief flight surgeon with more than 850 flying hours in the F-16, F-15, C-130 (multiple variations), UH-1 and numerous other aircraft. He has previously commanded an aerospace medicine squadron and three medical groups. The general was the Command Surgeon, Headquarters Pacific Air Forces, and the 13th Air Force surgeon, Hickam AFB, Hawaii. Prior to his current assignment, he served as the Commander, 81st Medical Group, Keesler AFB, Miss., where he was responsible for the direct delivery of health care to more than 27,000 enrolled patients among almost 47,000 eligible within Keesler Medical Center's catchment area.
