MAJOR GENERAL WALLACE W. "WADE" FARRIS JR. Maj. Gen. Wallace W. "Wade" Farris Jr. is Commander, 22nd Air Force, Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga. The command is responsible for supporting the Reserve's air mobility and air refueling operations from locations in 30 states across America. With more than 15,000 Reservists and 105 unit-equipped aircraft, 22nd Air Force contributes daily to the Air Force's worldwide operational mission. Reserve aircrews within 22nd Air Force fly a variety of missions to include aerial spraying, fire suppression, hurricane hunters to troop transport utilizing the C-130 Hercules. General Farris was born in Tuscaloosa, Ala. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science degree in business and received his commission through the Air Force ROTC program. His previous commands include the 914th Airlift Wing, Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, N.Y., and the 439th Airlift Wing, Westover Air Reserve Base, Mass. From January 2006 to June 2006, General Farris was deployed as the Deputy Director for Mobility Forces, Combined Air Operations Center, Southwest Asia. The general is a command pilot, having flown more than 9,000 hours in airlift, airdrop (including a combat drop during Operation Just Cause), and air refueling missions.
