MAJOR GENERAL JOHN T. QUINTAS

Maj. Gen. John T. Quintas is the Deputy Director for Politico-Military Affairs for Asia, Joint Staff, the Pentagon, Washington, D.C.  He is responsible for regional planning and policy, and the implementation of the national security strategy. This includes the Asia-Pacific, Central, South, Northeast and Southeast Asia regions, supporting the commanders of U.S. Pacific Command and U.S. Central Command. Additionally, he provides politico-military advice to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Secretary of Defense.

General Quintas entered the Air Force in 1988 after receiving his commission from the U.S. Air Force Academy.  He has operational flying assignments in the F- 111 and F-15E aircraft.  The general commanded the 455th Expeditionary Operations Group at Bagram Airbase, Afghanistan, and both the 48th Operations Group and the 48th Fighter Wing at Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England.  He served as Senior Defense Official and Defense Attaché in the U.S. Embassy London, as well as Military Aide to the President of the United States.  Prior to his current assignment, General Quintas commanded the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing, Southwest Asia.

A master navigator, General Quintas has over 3,000 flying hours, including 800 combat hours supporting operations Northern Watch, Southern Watch, Enduring Freedom, Resolute Support, Freedom's Sentinel and Inherent Resolve.
